G.C.S.E. Drama is an option which has grown in popularity and strength and has produced outstanding results. Students develop excellent skills in devising physical and stylised theatre through group work. They draw upon experience of live theatre as well as practical lesson work to produce strong presentations which are assessed for coursework.

Students also develop the ability to write critically about productions and analyse play texts. Over the past few years, we have seen some fantastic productions such as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (Stratford), ‘Blood Brothers’ (Belgrave), ‘Of Mice and Men’ (Arena) and ‘The Woman in Black’ (Fortune - London), and most recently 'The Red Shoes' (Leicester)

There are two G.C.S.E. Drama options in both Years 10 and 11. Students have 5 lessons per fortnight and follow an exciting scheme designed to meet the requirements of the AQA specification but also to allow the exploration of different dramatic forms. We look at the choral and physical style of ‘Wolfboy’, the drama of World War 1, the magic of ‘Witchcraze’ and the dramatic historical murder of Charlotte Dymond ’. Our students produce fantastic work which they perform to classes in KS3.

We are very proud of all of our students and many often choose to study Drama further in the sixth form and then go onto university.
