Year 7 Fieldtrip To Conkers

In Year 7 we take all students to Conkers in the National Forest. Here they do a number of tasks to support their Geography course in Year 7. The first task they get to do is to visit the visitor centre and look at a number of geographical exhibitions.

They fill in a number of worksheets that explore some of themes we tackle in Year 7. The main focus of the trip is to practice map skills. Students have two sessions, one in the morning and one in afternoon to use maps and find various objects around the vast grounds at conkers. As well as map skills students learn valuable teamwork skills as well.

As it is also the staged at the beginning of year 7 we also include a shelter building activity to help form friendships and foster teamwork. As well as being great fun it really helps the groups to bond.
