The Department

Music is as much an activity as it is an academic subject and over 150 pupils receiving instrumental tuition that involves eighteen peripatetic musicians.

Two fundamental ideas that drive the ethos of the department are:

Providing opportunities for pupils of all abilities and aspirations to participate in musical activities at an appropriate level

Recognising and nurturing individual talent so that the musical pupil may be challenged and enabled to realise their potential.

To achieve these aims lessons are focused around performance and composition projects which are based in the classroom and that involve whole year groups.
