Vivomiles - Your Questions Answered

What are Vivomiles? Are they a physical thing or virtual?  Because you talk about spending them so I don’t really get the concept of them.

Yes – Vivomiles are ‘virtual’.  They are like points which are stored online and can be traded for items in the reward catalogue.

What is a Vivo???

A ‘Vivo’ is short way of saying ‘Vivomile’.  Pupils collect Vivomiles and spend them on rewards.

What happens if the data system loses the data?

It won’t!  The data is stored by the Vivomiles company, which deals with dozens of schools up and down the country.  They have backup systems to prevent data loss – so no need to worry.

Could you use your vivos when you are shopping or is it only direct on the site?

You can only spend the Vivos online.  However, some of the rewards are vouchers which you could buy with the Vivomiles, and then spend in various shops.

Is it possible to involve other charities such as Acorns children’s hospice or Gentleshaw wildlife centre? We have been learning about them in PHSE and charities which are less well known (local) might benefit more than the normal charities which everyone knows of.

Yes, you can choose the charity you wish to support.  Many tutor groups will decide on a charity they will donate to, but it is up to the individual which charity they donate vivos too if any.

Is it easy to get points?

Yes it is easy to get Vivomiles.  You will automatically get points for good attendance, and things such as effort in class can get you vivos.  Obviously, more significant work, such as ILPs, will earn you more Vivos.

Can you have points taken off you?

We’ve not decided yet, but probably not.  School has various things it can do to punish poor behaviour, so people might think it unfair to punish them twice for the same incident by taking points away as well.

I Think It Is An Amazing Idea But How Do You Put The Vivomiles Onto The Card?

The Vivomiles are put onto your account by the teachers and stored in your account.  You use your reward card when you wish to buy something from the online shop.

How long does it take to deliver the rewards?

Items ordered online should be delivered to the school within 4 school days (so if you order on Monday you will get it before Friday of that week).

Will new rewards be added to the website every so often?

Yes – and you can even tell the company what you would like to see there!

Who will give me my Vivomiles?

Members of staff who work with you – teachers, learning support, study centre staff, student support, attendance clerk, and anyone who runs a club!

How do we know how many vivomiles we have collected? Would it be a good idea to have a little card to keep track on them?

You will have your own account so you can check your Vivomiles online.  You can even sign up for free SMS alerts to your phone to keep you updated.

How many points do you need to win things?

Smaller items cost less (obviously) such as pens, etc which cost less than 50 vivos.  More expensive items will take longer to save for.  For example, an iPod shuffle costs 3,100 Vivomiles.

What happens when we do the survey?

We use your answers to help make the system better, and to answer excellent questions like this one!

It sounds pretty good but would there be any problems with using it?

We hope not, but as with anything new it will take us time to get used to it.  If you do have any problems or concerns, do see Mr Goodhead and he will help you out.

Where would you get your prizes from when you get them?

Prizes are sent to school and then passed to you by a member of staff.
